Facebook = The Russians

Not “Social Media,” but “Socialist
Media” (<– dibs!)

Facebook is now actively interfering in the Presidential election. Remember, this is exactly what Democrat satraps have long insisted was a dirty, disgusting, horrible, evil thing to do… when they insisted the Russians were doing it.

Facebook is actively censoring Conservative content. They’ve launched an aggressive pogrom against Conservative content on their pages. They’re actively deleting posts in support of President Trump’s re-election. They’re actively censoring Conservative content on all manner of topics and issues.

What should we make of this, given that Facebook has become a major communications conduit for Americans? Also, how should we respond, in light of the fact that all the major socialist media outlets — YouTube, Google, Twitter, and others — are all busily doing the very same thing?

The socialist media of today are the contemporary equivalent of the Fifth Column(1) of the 1930’s.

There are arguments for not doing something about it:

  • It’s free speech, man! They’re choosing what speech appears on their platforms. They have a right to determine what appears on their platform. (This is the Publisher vs. Platform argument)
  • If you don’t like it, you’re free to start your own social media outlet that behaves differently.
  • They’re a company… the government has no place regulating what a company says. (This is not necessarily true, because of of the second bullet, below)

There are arguments for doing something about this:

  • Facebook’s not a private company. They’re a publicly-traded company. Therefore they have a fiduciary responsibility to their stockholders, not to making political statements.
  • By choosing a political side, Facebook (along with the other social media outlets) overtly discriminates against a certain segment of their employee population.
  • We impeached a President, ostensibly on the grounds that actions he took stemming from outside manipulation of Facebook, and amounting to interference in our election, were serious enough to remove him from office.
  • If it’s criminal for foreigners to manipulate Facebook to interfere in an election, why is it just fine for Americans to do the same thing? (The answer might be in two things: #1: foreign vs. domestic, and #2: platform vs. publisher)
  • As a business, you can’t, for example, refuse to serve black Americans. Why is it okay to discriminate overtly against Conservative Americans? This is real business for Facebook, because the removed content would draw advertisers. Is it really legal for Facebook to engage in viewpoint discrimination? Even to turn down revenue in order to feed their bigotry?
  • Pursuant to that: The higher-ups of Facebook are now the Russians. The very ones we were so conditioned to hate so much for… having interfered in our election.
  • The ability of Conservatives to express themselves on a level playing field is severely limited by the Facebook pogrom. As well as the censorship by the other socialist media outlets.

Understand, I know the counter arguments to all these pros and cons, so don’t get all over my case on them. 🙂

I’m still not sure how I come down on this in terms of regulating Facebook, or not, but let’s not kid ourselves: Facebook, and the other socialist media are giving the equivalent of untold billions of dollars in free money and services to Democrats across the nation in the upcoming election.

This is just the logical extension of the Obama Administration’s aggressive silencing of Conservative political voices in the private sector.

There can be no doubt about it: There is a concerted effort on the part of the political Left to shut Conservative voices down. This is an aggressive sometimes violent effort that is, at its basis, evil.

Look at this long list of  items:

  • Censorship of Conservative content on Facebook
  • Censorship of Conservative content on YouTube
  • Censorship of Conservative content on Twitter
  • Censorship of Conservative search results on Google
  • Overt viewpoint discrimination in hiring, and granting of tenure in Academia. Against Conservatives.
  • Overt viewpoint discrimination against Conservatives in hiring in the media.
  • Overt viewpoint discrimination against Conservative content in the media.
  • Overt viewpoint discrimination against Conservatives in hiring and content in Hollywood.
  • Overt viewpoint discrimination against Conservatives in hiring throughout pop culture.
  • Aggressive, often violent shoutdowns of Conservative speakers on college campuses.
  • I’d point out something else, that no one else has noticed, and that is a bit more abstract. The concept of “whiteness” is an abstract notion. If there is such a thing, then it pertains to a group of people: white people. Therefore, “whiteness” would properly be construed as having a wide array of good, bad and neutral properties. But that is not how “whiteness” is depicted to us all: it’s universally seen as evil. Needless to say, it’s only Conservatives trying to defend the notion that if there is such a thing as “whiteness,” then it’s not purely evil. This obviously rational viewpoint is aggressively squelched in America.
  • This is true for the notion of masculinity as well.
  • This has now become true for the notion of heterosexuality as well.
  • This has now become true of people who are not confused as to whether they’re male or female, masculine or feminine.
  • Needless to say, these last several bullet points are meant to convince people that Conservatives are evil, so that your bigotry against them is not only justified, but good.
  • The continuing IRS discrimination against Conservative groups.
  • This is only a partial list…

Two quick things:

  • Thing #1: It might actually be easier to list the outlets where Conservatives have no fear of open discrimination. Possibly Parler? Thinkspot.com?
  • Thing #2: Go ahead and name a social media outlet — any social media outlet — where any leftist — even the most extreme of extreme leftists — might worry about his voice being censored

It’s funny how this all turned out. First we were all oh so upset that the Russians were using Facebook to interfere in our Presidential election. Then we learned that before the Russians were doing it, Facebook had already been doing it right along! The Russians must have been really surprised. What, they must have wondered, are we doing in here? They beat us to it!

(1) Here’s the Wikipedia entry for “Fifth Column.”

Here’s a paragraph from that entry:

fifth column is any group of people who undermine a larger group from within, usually in favor of an enemy group or nation. The activities of a fifth column can be overt or clandestine. Forces gathered in secret can mobilize openly to assist an external attack. This term is also extended to organised actions by military personnel. Clandestine fifth column activities can involve acts of sabotage, disinformation, or espionage executed within defense lines by secret sympathizers with an external force.
