Gun Control Common Sense

Bottom Line: The only thing that worries the left about guns is: if the American people were able to own guns, they would have a measure of power, and control over their own lives,  that they, the left, don’t have.

Furthermore, if there were widespread gun ownership, there would be a lot fewer of these mass shooting incidents. A person who shoots up an unarmed crowd is by definition a coward, and wouldn’t do it if he had confidence that someone else there had a gun as well.

The American left has no choice but to be dishonest about the issues they support, because they don’t have replies to obvious, common sense arguments that devastate their conclusions.

Example: the American left supports something called “gun control.” Nearly unanimously. This is the notion that you and I, John and Jane Q. Public, should not be able legally to own guns.

The political right is split on the issue, with a majority supporting our right to own guns. As we’ve said in these pages before — along with others, of course: “Wouldn’t it be nice if in the mass shooting incidents, someone other than the shooter had had a gun, and could have either taken him out, or at least made him hunker down, thereby saving scores of lives?”

The left’s response to that obvious, common sense, rhetorical question, a query that devastates arguments in favor of restricting gun ownership is: “Oh, you believe that old, long-discredited nonsense? If everyone in these places had guns and started shooting, there would be lots more deaths!”

Oh?

Wrong.

Here’s the obvious response to that silliness.

The left sees two scenarios:

    1. A situation in which a psycho has a gun, and everyone else is unarmed, and many will die.
    2. A situation in which a psycho has a gun, and so do several others in his target crowd. A situation in which many might die.

And the left says: “The situation in which many will die is better than a situation in which many might die.”

Why on earth would the American left embrace that completely demented, crackpot, loony-as-Charlie-Manson, certifiably screwball conclusion?

The answer to that disturbing question is easy: The left doesn’t mind gun ownership at all… if and only if the right people own guns. For the left, that’s the left, not the right? Got it?

Well, let’s put it a different way. The left is obsessed with power — getting and and keeping it. And ensuring that the political right never gets power, or keeps it. Therefore, the left envision a country in which all the power structures are controlled by the left and they possess guns.

In other words, they don’t give the teeniest, tiniest hoot about whether you and I live or die…  as long as they hold power.

And that means that the only thing that worries the left about guns is our rhetorical question, above, and its concomitant hypothetical: if the American people were able to own guns, they would have a measure of power, and control over their own lives,  that they, the left, don’t have.

Oh, one more thing, another obvious, common sense thing: if there were widespread gun ownership, there would be a lot fewer of these shooting incidents. A person who shoots up an unarmed crowd is by definition a coward, and wouldn’t do it if he had confidence that someone else there had a gun as well.
