Democrats/Socialists vs. Free Market Capitalists (Part II — a Summary)

In this post here, I did a high-level comparison of the two intellectual tendencies: Socialism and Free-market Capitalism. It made for a lengthy essay. My editor thought that the summation at the bottom of the essay did a good job of wrapping it all up in a smaller, more concise package, so he encouraged me to publish this shorter version here.

Bottom Line: We’ve said it in these pages before: if America falls to the disease of Socialism, then what other country in the world will be able to spread freedom? It’s not as if you’ll just be able to go somewhere else and speak your mind, worship as you please, get together with anyone you want to, write what you want in a book or newspaper.

The big difference is in the general outlook: A Democrat/Socialist sees misery and believes that things are good, and fair, and just only when everyone is miserable, while a Free-market Capitalist believes that things are good, and fair, and just only when no one is miserable.

The Democrat/Socialist scolds, harangues, browbeats, accuses, extorts the country into making everyone miserable, and calls that “justice,” while the free-market capitalist works to remove obstacles to people’s success and calls that “freedom.”

The two visions are in open warfare in America, and the “Make Everyone Miserable” vision is winning. The worst part of that is that America is the last stronghold in the world of the “Remove Obstacles to Success” vision, the only vision that makes people actually free.

We’ve said it in these pages before: if America falls to the disease of Socialism, then what other country in the world will be able to spread freedom? It’s not as if you’ll just be able to go somewhere else and speak your mind, worship as you please, get together with anyone you want to, write what you want in a book or newspaper.
